Tony Award Winner Memphis is, according to Wikepedia, "a musical by David Bryan (music and lyrics) and Joe DiPietro (lyrics and book). It is loosely based on Memphis disc jockey Dewey Phillips,[1] one of the first white DJs to play black music in the 1950s. It was staged during the 2003-04 season at both the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts and TheatreWorks in Mountain View, California and opened on Broadway on October 19, 2009.  It won the Tony Award for Best Musical, along with three other Tony Awards, at the 2010 Tony Awards.    According to The New York Times, "The Broadway revival of August Wilson’s Fences, starring Viola Davis and Denzel Washington, below, has recouped its $2.8 million capitalization after only eight weeks of performances, the producers Carole Shorenstein Hays and Scott Rudin announced on Monday." As of this writing,  Fences will run through July 11th.
   "Sometimes a play can bring out the best in an actor. And then there are times when an actor brings out the best in a play," writes Robert Trussell of The Kansas City Star. "To watch Denzel Washington as embittered ex-baseball player Troy Maxson in August Wilson's "Fences," which claimed a Pulitzer Prize in 1987, is to be in the presence of artistry so pure, so organic, that at times the thin film of make-believe is simply torn away."
